Sydney went out of her way to help us get the information we needed and steer us in the right direction to make sure we are going to get the best care possible for my mom even if it doesn't mean mom will be able to reside at Independence Village of Ankeny.

We have just left after saying goodbye to one of the most kind, patient, and loving women. PHANICE has been taking care of my mom in memory care and my dad in assisted living. Not only was Phanice loving and kind in every single interaction with my parents, she took care of me as well. She always listened and would check in on family all of the time. She was so sweet and caring to all of us, and she used her great sense of humor with my mom in the most therapeutic way! The patience she has shown my mom is truly so admirable. I really feel that I can't say enough about the quality of care that Phanice has provided. An absolute blessing for my mom! My mom recently stayed at Independence Village of Ankeny for two months, and we could not be happier with our experience. From the moment she arrived, she was truly treated like a queen. The entire staff is incredibly accommodating, caring, and attentive to every detail. They went above and beyond to make sure she felt comfortable and right at home. She absolutely loved the food, which was a huge plus, and her apartment was stunning—freshly remodeled, modern, and beautiful. A special shoutout to the physical therapists as well. They are absolutely incredible at what they do and provided top-notch care that made a noticeable difference during her stay. If you are looking for a community that combines excellent therapy, beautiful living spaces, delicious meals, and a deeply compassionate staff, I highly recommend Independence Village of Ankeny. They gave our family complete peace of mind.

A big shoutout to Independence Village of Ankeny. We visit many senior living communities, and this one is at the very top of our list for the exceptional care they provide their residents. I was given a tour by Alivia and was amazed at this young woman’s passion and pride for the staff that work there, the people who live there, and their approach to caring for them. She took time to get to know me, what I was looking for, and explain all of the programs. On the tour several staff members were across the room walking through and instead of just smiling and waving they took it upon themselves to come over, introduce themselves and shake my hand. The facility is bright, clean, and welcoming…beautifully done, but it was the people who work there that blew me away. When my time comes this is where I want to live. I was so impressed I’m not going to look elsewhere. We decided on having our friend live here.

It was a tough decision to move my father into assisted living, however, Independence Village has been great to work with the past two years. I have leaned on both Nina and Sydney for a lot of support with my 89 year old father. Their support during this difficult time has exceeded my expectations on my levels. Nina is very prompt when I reach out with questions and need help with medications or support for my dad. Regardless of the time of day she always gets right back to me and follows up with the doctor or staff accordingly. I always know he is in a safe place and they are there for both my dad and me when I need help.

The staff is amazing & my mom has been wonderfully cared for. She says the food is hit or miss but there has been a few chefs since she got there. The cleanliness is off the charts in fact my mom just got moved into a newly remodeled apartment that is stunning. The staff is very friendly & helpful. The only downside is there has been a lot of turnover but I feel like that happens at all facilities.

Living at Independence Village has been a wonderful experience for my parents. The transition from another independent living facility wasn’t easy, but the staff made it so much smoother with their kindness and support. Both the memory care and assisted living teams are incredibly compassionate and genuinely care about the residents. It’s clear they don’t just do their jobs—they truly love what they do. I’m very grateful we found this community when we did. It has made a meaningful difference in my parents’ quality of life and given our family real peace of mind.

I have visited this building many times over the years and I’m always impressed with everything from how clean the building is to how good it smells and how friendly the staff is.

Independence Village of Ankeny has a warm, friendly atmosphere the minute you walk through the front door. The building is clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished. And the staff is wonderful, and so attentive and caring! It's been a joy getting to know and work with them!

My aunt has lived at Independence Village in Ankeny for almost two years. After a short adjustment period, she has settled in. She has gotten to know the staff & they have gotten to know her. I'm most impressed with the sincere care given to each individual by the entire staff. The caregivers see each resident several times throughout the day. Early this year, when a health issue arose, the nurse was notified. She notified me right away. Her guidance was thoughtful, knowledgeable & helpful beyond measure. The cleaning & maintenance staff work together. The apartments & building are clean. The chef is attentive to the residents. Meals are delicious & served with polite care. The residents are treated to a "food tasting" as seasonal menus change. The activities are plentiful & tailored to the residents interests. The receptionist & administrative staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful & caring. My aunt is living comfortably & safely. Our experience has been good.

From the first time we toured Independence Village over 3 years ago, we knew it was the place for mom. The facility is beautiful, the rooms are generously sized, but the staff beyond compare! Every person we've worked with spoken to or who has helped has been fantastic! Mom is happy. Comfortable and safe what more could we want!
