Senior Living in Powell, Where You Can Make the Most of Every Day

My mother was in memory care until [date removed]. They charge a different rate based on the size of the room in memory care. My mother had a large room where she was able to have a twin bed, a couch, a recliner and a couple of sitting chairs as well as a dresser and chest of drawers. She had a full bathroom as well. The accommodations were great. They have hired an activities director specifically for memory care and they have another activities director for assisted living. There is a large variety of activities and staff does a good job getting the residents to participate. Activities in memory care include card games, puzzles, exotic food tasting, slushies, and a variety of crafts including a handprint t-shirt with the residents handprints. Memory Care has its own outside area which includes a flower and herb garden which the residents help to take care of. They will also periodically do activities outside depending on the weather. The aids and nurses are wonderful. It was clear that they really cared about the residents and did a good job taking care of my mother. My only criticism is the turnover that occurs. As of [date removed], they were looking for a new director of Wellness and a new chef. Sometimes they are very well staffed with more aides than necessary and sometimes there are only two aides in memory care. However, that seemed to be improving. The other thing that was improving was the food. The original chef, although he was a great chef, cooked many dishes that the residents were likely not to be familiar with. The current chef who was helping out from another location was more focused on comfort food which seem to be better received by residents. There is an excellent variety of food and the kitchen can do special orders such as cheeseburgers and grilled cheese if a resident does not like the menu. My mother had been on oxygen. There were a couple of times when I looked over my personal camera and so she had pulled out the nasal cannula. I called and the staff was very responsive, even in the middle of the night, to go immediately to her room and replace the nasal cannula. I would not hesitate to send anyone to story Point Powell North. My mother's room was cleaned once a week. The bathroom was always clean. Housekeeping didn't always do a good job sweeping behind her recliner or in those types of places but the main areas were always immaculate. Tables were cleaned and Floors mopped after every meal. The staff also did a wonderful job with laundry.

I love my MIL's apartment. One wall is windows. She has a patio door to the outside. We had looked at other apartments and this one had the best over all vibe. The place where her MD and related services are all within a short distance from StoryPoint. The workers assigned to her check up on her if she misses meals help her with laundry (she's too short to reach the dryer) and just make sure she's getting what she needs. They are recognizing my husband when he comes to get her.

This is a care facility worth looking into. I got a good vibe from both the assisted living and memory care environment. Both staff and residents were very friendly!
