They served our country. Now, it’s an honor to serve them!
Brighton, Mich. — Independence Village of Oxford makes celebrating veterans a part of everyday life.
Whether that’s by supporting resident-led veterans clubs, hosting patriotic lunch and learns, or celebrating events like National Hug a GI Day and National Armed Forces Day, veterans are honored members of the community.
In partnership with Miracle Quilts, the community works to support veterans outside of their own community, too. Miracle Quilts is an organization that creates handmade quilts for wounded troops and hospitalized veterans, and at monthly meets held at Independence Village, Oxford residents are a part of that initiative.
“Veterans have a special place in the hearts of our communities, and Independence Village of Oxford is no exception,” said Laura Ashley, Independence Village of Oxford Life Enrichment Coordinator. “As the meeting point for Miracle Quilts, our community helps give back to veterans across the world.”
