What makes a senior living community special? Is it the unique amenities and features? Or maybe it’s the living options and unique floor plans?
At Devonshire, we know that, while those offerings are important, what truly makes a community special are the everyday experiences residents, families and employees share together. For seniors searching for independent living, assisted living or memory care options in Lapeer, Michigan, we can’t wait to get to know you and share with you more about life at our community.
Keep reading for more about what the residents at Devonshire are up to and what makes our community such a great place to live.
Suggested Spots For Seniors In Town
There are plenty of places to explore throughout Lapeer that are perfect for seniors and their friends to enjoy.
The Lapeer Art Association hosts frequent art exhibits and community events at the Gallery 194 that are perfect for Lapeer residents of any age. You can even book a private party if you’re looking to hold a smaller event. Another great activity to do with friends is bowling at Gerlach’s Bowling Center or a round of golf at Rolling Hills Golf Club.
Fick Farms is the place to be if you’re looking to shop local. This local market features fresh produce and other local vendors. In the fall, there are hayrides, a corn maze, a you-pick patch and more.
The Lake Inn is a great place to stop for a lunch shared with friends, and it’s one of our favorite places to be. Some of our residents took a trip to the Lake Inn in our community shuttle to enjoy some of their favorite dishes.

Side By Side Through Every Season
When you choose to join the Devonshire community, you’re choosing more than just a place to live. Our community is truly a family! We laugh together, we experience life together, and through every season, we celebrate moments, big and small, side by side.
Here are a few of the recent holidays we celebrated together for a closer look at what life at Devonshire really looks like:
Getting Creative For Halloween
Sharing in a craft together is a great way to connect with other residents and express yourself artistically. To celebrate Halloween at Devonshire, residents painted ceramic pumpkins together. Every resident’s creation looked a little different, but it was a great reminder that what makes us unique is what makes our community special.
Thankful At Thanksgiving Dinner
Residents all filled up their plates (and their stomachs!) at our Thanksgiving dinner. Devonshire culinary staff were hard at work in preparation, and their meal didn’t disappoint. We had ham, turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and shared in some great company, too. It was great to be reminded of how thankful we are for the residents, employees and families at our community.
The Grinch Feast At Christmas
There’s nothing like the joy of the holidays, and Christmas is one of our favorites! We held a Grinch-Themed Christmas Feast where every dish was inspired by the story of the Grinch — like Cindy Lou’s Beef Stew. In addition to our meal, we participated in some grinch trivia, challenges and photobooth photoshoots.
Honoring Veterans On Veterans Day
We’re honored to serve the men and women who once served us — our veterans! At Devonshire, veterans are important members of our community, and we take every opportunity to honor them and their service to our country.
For Veterans Day at Devonshire, we held a community celebration where we honored each veteran with a pinning ceremony, decorations, a word from leaders of our community and more. We even all stood for the Pledge of Allegiance together to honor our country, too.
For More Than 40 Years
Whether it’s a holiday, a community-wide event or just a regular afternoon, it’s our mission to create experiences every day that make resident shine.
In communities across the country, StoryPoint Group has been providing seniors with the absolute best care for more than 40 years. We’re proud to bring that level of care to the seniors of the Lapeer community, too.
