Louisville Zoo
The Louisville Zoo was founded in 1969 as the “State Zoo of Kentucky.” It currently exhibits over 1,200 animals in eight large exhibits. The Zoo is an excellent place for families and visitors to enjoy a day out in the sun, learn about different animals of the world and make memories. Our residents enjoy taking trips to the Zoo with family and friends and look forward to scheduled trips there.
Talon Winery
Talon Winery, owned by Harriet Allen and her family, was established in 1999 as the first winery in Fayette County and later expanded in 2009 to become the first winery in Shelby County. The Homestead Tasting Room is in the original 1790 farmhouse. The Shelbyville Tasting House was renovated to create a gift shop, private event room and a unique Barrel-Vaulted ceiling tasting room that overlooks a limestone rock quarry on acres of beautiful land. With it open all year round, StoryPoint Prospect residents can visit the winery, enjoy the sun, and relax with friends.
Huber’s Orchard and Winery
Simon Huber emigrated from Baden-Baden, Germany, to Starlight, IN, in 1843, bringing years of experience in fruit growing and winemaking. He settled on an 80-acre tract of Huber land, now over 700 acres. Today, Huber’s Orchard and Winery offers various activities for all ages, from strawberry picking to wine tasting to playing in the Family Farm Park. When you visit, try their homemade ice cream and freshly baked bread. Huber’s is a place for families, friends and everyone in between — like our residents, who enjoy strawberry picking and Huber’s homemade ice cream.
Waterfront Botanical Gardens
The Waterfront Botanical Gardens were established by Botanica, a group representing the local gardening community, in 1993. The Gardens were opened in 2019. Admission to the Gardens is free and open to everyone, and they offer educational opportunities for children and adults, hosting special events and venue rentals. StoryPoint Prospect residents love to wander the winding trails surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers.
